Golfers Visits Mabira Forest during the Uganda Open Tour 2019

In an effort to promote domestic tourism, Uganda golfers who participated in the Uganda Open Tour 2019 visited Mabira rain-forest before teeing off at Jinja Golf Club.

After the Uganda Tourism Board and Uganda Golf Union launched an initiative to promote domestic tourism. Golfers started on their Uganda Open Tour 2019 by visiting the Mabira forest for a nature walk where they learnt of the different flora and fauna.

Mabira forest located along Kampala – Jinja highway, the biggest rain-forest in Central Uganda. The forest has been in protected as Mabira Forest Reserve since 1932. It has enormous biodiversity comprising 315 bird species, 312 tree species, 218 butterfly species, 97 speciesĀ  of moths, 40 species of small mammals including red-tailed monkeys, vervets, grey-cheeked mangabeys and many nocturnal animals.
